The TrackMyJourney website is currently undergoing maintenance due to ongoing problems with the database server. I have therefore decided to bring forward a planned server upgrade and relocation to a new hosting provider.

Unfortunately due to its rushed nature this move may not go as smoothly as planned, but I hope the site will be fully back online within a day or so. There may be an extra delay whilst the trackmyjourney.co.uk domain is updated to 'point' to the new host, however the new server should be fully accessible via www.trackmyjourney.eu as soon as the move is complete.

I'm having to restore from a database backup from last night (generated at 00:30 GMT) therefore unfortunately any changes made to your account this morning will have been lost, for which I sincerely apologise. Since the webserver also handles communication with TMJ-Mobile on the phone, this will also be affected by the move, so I'd ask that you not use the web functions until the move is complete.

Apologies again for the disruption and thanks for your patience!

Further update...

So, if youre able to read this then I hope the site is pretty much up again - it is now running from the new server, which so far seems to be working well!

The main remaining problem is the updating of the trackmyjourney.co.uk DNS records. This domain is hard-coded into TMJ-Mobile, so unfortunately there may be issues with the web functions on the phone whilst the DNS updates are fully rolled out over the internet (an automatic process, but it depends on the length of time the old settings are cached by various servers dotted around the web).

There are also a few minor coding issues since the software versions on the new server are slightly different to the old one, so there are several further issues that I need to investigate.

More later...

Another Follow-up...

The new webserver seems to be running well - hopefully you'll have noticed a marked speed increase in browsing around the site, although there are still a few remaining issues:

- Early this morning and yesterday morning the server had a few problems running its daily backup, with the unfortunate side-effect that the website and mobile uploading would have been unavailable for a few hours. I think I've nailed the issue now, but will monitor this over the next few days.

- As far as I can see, the DNS changeover of the trackmyjourney.co.uk domain hasn't caused any major problems, but the process is not yet fully complete so there is the chance that the site may still suffer interuptions in the coming days. As noted above, the www.trackmyjourney.eu domain shouldn't suffer these problems so can be used if you do experience problems. (In the long term I'll be sticking with the .co.uk as the master site, so you needn't update any bookmarks etc).

- The website addresses are hard-coded into TMJ-Mobile, including some URLs specific to my previous hosting provider (who terminated my account without warning on Thursday afternoon). I have therefore today released a new version v0.7.9 which will exclusively use the new server, and also shouldn't suffer from any of the potential DNS issues noted above. If you find your existing version has web connection issues then I'd advise upgrading to this new release, but otherwise there are no other major alterations.

- I've fixed several of the minor coding issues caused by the different server software versions, but if you notice anything I've missed feel free to let me know (either by replying below, or via the feedback form)...

Thanks - we're slowly getting there!!

Still having problems with downloading tiles to my Blackberry torch just now although it seems to work ok on my old LG Viewty and Nokia N97 . No such luck with the torch although everything else seems to be working ok just no map onscreen. PE

Hi Paul,

I've just checked your account - your subscription expired a couple of weeks ago, so the vector maps won't be available. You can renew the subscription here. :-)

Cheers,
Stephen
