Luparu1 11:59 | Hey I am from Romania and it seams that i don't have the map of my city "Sibiu" covered . I just wanted to see the streets and all you know . Most of my country's roads aren't covered . I'm asking if someone has a map or if i could get it from somewhere. Thank you.
ChrisM 9:23 Location: Phone Model: | Hi Laparu, Wow, you're right, there aren't many maps of your town! The best I could find after a quick search was this: http://maps.live.com/#JndoZXJlMT1zaWJpdSZiYj01My44NjU0ODU1MDg0MjEzJTdlNi4wODY0MjU3ODEyNDk5OCU3ZTQ5LjMzOTQ0MDkzNzE1NTUlN2UtNi43Njc1NzgxMjUwMDAwMg== If that doesn't work, try this: http://maps.live.com/ and search for Sibiu It seems to show at least the larger streets, though few have names :( You could use this program to capture a larger area of the map and save it as a JPG file: http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/MapCapt.html Then you can use the 'Map Organiser' program on this website to convert it to a file you can use with TMJ on your phone. Not ideal, but might be Ok... Good luck! Chris.
ChrisM 9:29 Location: Phone Model: | Hi, Just found this: http://www.map2web.cc/map4/index.php?fpnr=252&lang=en You could try using this with MapCapt also...(?) Chris.
Luparu1 19:19 | Hey Chris thank you for helping. I found this site http://www.sibiuvirtual.ro/harta.php can you help me to finally transfer my map on my mobile and make it work ? Do you have MSN or something ? Luparu
ChrisM 9:28 Location: Phone Model: | Hi Lupara, Sorry, I don't have any instant messaging programs, but it is fairly straight forward. If you want to use this map, you WILL have to pay for a full version of MapCapture (I mentioned it earlier in this thread) but it is not very expensive. Might be worth having a play with the free version just to make sure it works with the site you found first I guess. Have a go with MapCapt, it's quite straight forward. You just show it where the N,S,E,W buttons are on the map, and define the map area, then help the program to work out how much the map moves each time you press one of these buttons (the offset). It will then be able to create a TIFF or PNG file of the whole map. You then need to workout the lattitude/longitude of the top, bottom, left, right of your new map (probably easiest to use GoogleMaps in satellite view) Then MapOrganiser (from this website) will be able to create the file to save onto your phone. Have a go, and see how you get on. If you have any specific problems let me know and I'll try to help further... Regards, Chris.
