amohan 6:43 | Hi, 1st of all this is THE BEST GPS app I've used on my Nokia E71 ! Great Job guys ! Now I got my hands dirty trying to get maps int my phone. I'm in New Delhi, India, but would like to have maps for all of India loaded on to the phone. Memory is not an issue as the phone has plenty to spare. Anyone who has these maps converted & in use already ? Post them here and it would be of great help to me and others from India ! Thanks !
Stephen 15:27 Location: Phone Model: | Hi Amohan, I could put an OSM map of India up on the Map Library though unfortunately the Indian coverage is currently pretty sparse. Central Delhi has a few main streets marked - better than a completely blank canvas I guess. Incidentally, the aerial satellite coverage of Delhi in the Potlatch OpenStreetMap editor is pretty good - this allows the streets to be quickly traced from the satellite imagery. Its obviously a big task overall, but you could try mapping a bit of your own area - within a week or so its then available for downloading via the MapOrganiser into TMJ-Mobile. Good luck! Cheers, Stephen
rjshv 2:03 | Hi Mohan, TMJ uses yahoo maps also and yahoo map provides fantastic coverage of India. So that should be enough, isnt it? But, TMJ is using google's engine to create routes and google for India does not yet support creating directions for India. You could however create routes from http://in.maps.yahoo.com or www.mapmyindia.com. You could also go to http://pipes.yahoo.com/spadival/drivedir and create routes for your planned journey, save it as a kml file (from More Options link), and import that into TMJ so you'd have directions available.
rjshv 2:09 | Am so sorry Mohan, I posted it wrong. What I was saying works best for MGMAPS and was not for TMJ.

ChrisM 15:37 Location: Phone Model: | If you're trying to create large maps from GoogleMaps or similar, I've found this little program extremely useful: http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/MapCapt.html It costs a few euros/dollars to register, but I think it's worth it. Not sure what the copyright implications are, but I'd imagine that as long as it is for personal use only, it shouldn't be a problem... I have no connections with this software, other than being a happy user... Regards, Chris.
