I do not appear to be transferring data to the server. I have entered the TMJ Device Code and Password and believe everything is enabled. I am using T-Mobile and have the APN set to wap.voicestream.com.

I am showing the following error in the Event Log:

Err: Bad Request @ WFLD

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi bbslinger,

Are you able to connect to the internet with other Java programs, eg Opera Mini or is it only TMJ-Mobile that is giving the problem?

Also, is your BlackBerry part of a corporate package - a friend of mine has an 8800 through his work but they seem to have blocked Java programs from accessing the internet so TMJ-Mobile is unable to connect. Could this apply to you do you think?

Hi Stephen,

The problem seems to be specific to TMJ-Mobile. I am able to connect to the internet using other Java programs such as Opera Mini.

One other question- am I set up for the first month without paying? Under my account it shows subscription good until November 28, even though nothing has been charged to my credit card.

Thanks.

Hmmm, in that case I must admit I'm a bit stumped - are the application permissions for TMJ-Mobile set to allow web access etc? Also, I think I read somewhere that when you change the APN settings on a BlackBerry you might need to fully restart it, ie turn it off and remove the battery for a couple of seconds (I might be mistaken about this though).

Not sure what you mean regarding the account subscription?? TMJ-Mobile is currently free!!

Regards,
Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Is it possible that a port setting is blocking transmission? Should I ask T-Mobile about a certain port?

This is a great program! I hope I can get it to work.

Thanks.

Hi,

I don't think the port should be an issue - it uses the standard http protocol on port 80, the same as a web browser.

If you turn on Debug Info (Main Menu/Display/Show Debug Info), and then Enable Upload you should see a line on the screen beginning with WEB and followed by what appears to be a few random letters. Could you let me know exactly what is shown here (it might change every few seconds too, so you may need to watch it for a while to see if there is a pattern) - this might help me narrow down in the code where the problem lies...

Thanks,
Stephen

Stephen,

The code is:
WEB: ABCEFGHIJ

Other listings:
MEM 7.8MB, 33.0MB
CACHE: 0/0 bytes/0 bytes
KC:119 ETA

Thanks.

There is one thing you could try...

- Clear the current track (Menu/Clear/Track)
- UNTICK the 'Menu/Web/Send Intermediate Points' and 'Menu/Web/Send Pts From Start' options
- Display the Debug Info as before
- Menu/Web/Enable Upload

Does this make any difference, and is the 'WEB' line any different to before?

(Basically what this will do is ensure that the program sends as little data as possible to the website - when there is only a small amount of data it uses a different method to send it, which may possibly work better)...

Now it says WEB: AUVW

I still don't see anything on the website.

Is that with 'Upload Enabled'? It should give a different reading if it is (I hope!!). Could you try it making sure you've got a valid GPS signal at the time as well.

Also, does it still say Bad Request in the event log?

Thanks,
Stephen

OK, now I'm showing WEB: ABCEFKLTW in the Navigation Screen, ABCEFKL in the Route Screen, ABCEFKL in the Track Screen, ABCEFKL in the General Screen, ABCEFKL in the GPS/WEB Screen, and ABCEFKL in the Position Screen.

In the Event Log it says:

170726.50Err:http://www.trackmyjourney.co.uk/store053.php?un=[my device code]&pw=[my password]&users=y&live=y&liveloc=42.091500%2C-87.762755%2C175.00%2C311007%2C220317.748@URL;170726.496Err:

I'll include the fix in the next TMJ-Mobile release - should be available in the next few days...
